There is no charge for an online or phone design consultation. Simply send me the location and description of your project. By return e-mail or phone call, I will ask you for any additional information needed to discuss your plans.
   The services that I provide to you include (all or individual components of ) 3D model renderings, 2D frame drawings dimensioned with joinery, wall and roof SIP (structural insulated panels) drawings w/ window & door rough openings. 
   Additionally provided with these are detailed and accurate timber lists, SIP surface area dimensions of the complete residence. This allows for an accurate pricing list regarding all building materials including your foundation.
   I am committed to providing you the most accurate and detailed architectural, timber frame and SIP plans.

Joinery Details
The timber and material list  that I produce are an indispensable tool for the automatic generation of timbers, panels, fabrication and assembly schedules based on the current 3D design data of your project.
  Schedule data, e.g. material, sizes, and component group allocation are freely defined. All material lists can be output in a user friendly format or passed on  for further processing in a pricing program (e.g. Excel).
  Since identical components are automatically recognized during production of the fabrication schedules, the item quantities provide a safe basis for component fabrication.  

  I can be involved in the design and drawing process to varying degrees depending on your specific needs or desires. Most often I work with a client to develop an architectural drawing package.    A good set of drawings is invaluable:
     1.  in the resolution of design issues
     2.  for presentation to the bank
     3.  for submission for building permits
     4.  for obtaining confident pricing from contractors and suppliers
and as a document integral to the accurate constuction of a building project.

   Each drawing package includes floor plans, elevations, foundation plan, and section details (windows, railings, foundation, insulated panels, gables, walls, etc.), schedules and notes as necessary for construction definition. These drawings, along with the timber frame drawings and panel plans give you the complete drawing package to receive quotes and build. 


I use a powerful program "Cadwork ®" in which I am able to create a computer generated 3-D model of the timber frame. From this 3-D model the software then enables me to extract 2-D frame drawings.   This 3D model can also extract code that can be fed into a CNC computerized automated joinery machine. 
  My computer aided designing (CAD) software has 3-D capabilities that allow you to feel right at home. You are able to capture the size of your home and understand how your new home will look and feel prior to construction.
  The end result is an accurately designed timber frame and a set of final drawings which are used by any timber frame company, your contractor or yourself to create the home of your dreams.

  Using "cadwork ® software" I am able to create computer generated 3-D model of the structural panels (SIP's) which will enclose your timber frame or free standing panel home. From this 3-D model the software then enables me to extract 2-D frame drawings.   This 3D model can also extract code that can be fed into a CNC computerized automated joinery machine or cut by hand in shop. 
  Panels are usually completely pre-cut in shop to size, including rakes and eaves, bevel cuts and openings for windows, doors and skylights. Precut panels can shorten construction time, minimize the potential for mistakes, reduce site scrap, and get you under a roof in a much faster time.
  The result is accurately cut panels and a complete set of drawings which are used by any panel company, your contractor or yourself to either enclose your timber frame or shape your new home.

Joinery is the art or craft of connecting timbers using woodworking joints. While the concept of making wooden connections that are sufficient to tie the structure of a building together is simple, the task itself should not be taken for granted. Good timber joinery is a marvel.
  The link to the right has illustrations that show some common types of joinery used in the timberframes I design.  I apply end types (joinery) assuring that all joinery will remain strong and beautiful for years to come.

What are the advantages of using an independent timber frame design service?

1.  My design service offers you complete flexibility in design configuration.

2.  The completed design package affords you the ability to comparision shop for the best price,   quality and time frame for building.

3.  You are able to create a complete package including foundation, panels (SIP's), roofing etc.

4.  There are no contractual obligations with your timber frame design package. So you need not purchase only plans you need and work with any company for your finished structure.

5.  If you decide too cut and raise your frame & SIP's, I am available for questions without additional fee's as you are cutting and raising. 

I design most floor systems with Trus Joist's.
The structurally efficient "I" shape of Trus Joist's TJI® joists put the bulk of the wood where it's needed most: in the top and bottom flanges. And unlike the sawn-lumber on the right, TJI® joists won't cup, warp or end split?problems that can lead to a squeaky floor.
